Audio and Video Issues in Zoom Meeting
If your Zoom meeting participants are facing issues with Audio or Video in Zoom meetings share this article with them to help them troubleshoot and avoid common mistakes. This guide assumes that you are using this Zoom WordPress Integration plugin on your site. Please note that iPhone, mac, safari browser, and Firefox currently do not fully support Audio/Video from the web and the plugin will not work on these browsers/devices. If you are using any of these then you must switch to Chrome or use Zoom App to join the meeting. The plugin displays the Zoom meeting window best in the Chrome or Firefox browser. It does not work on iOS devices due to an Apple restriction. Check your browser/device compatibility here.
Also the Video cannot be enabled as of now when joining the meeting from Android device on Chrome, the issue is already reported to Zoom The audio works just fine though.
Prerequisiste: A valid SSL certificate should be configured on your site and the meeting page should be accessed via HTTPS.
Highly Recommended: I would urge you to ask your users/students to use the updated version of Chrome browser because it works best with Zoom web client and Zoom recommends to use it as well as the web client has limited support for browsers/devices at the moment. There is also another update released v3.1.1 to fix some of the Audio issues encountered in the Chrome browser.
- When you join a Zoom meeting you will see an option to join Audio by computer wait until the button is clickable and click this button to join the meeting via your desktop/android phone.
- Once you click this button you will be asked by the browser to allow the usage of microphone. Click Allow to use the computer audio in the meeting.
Important: It is possible that you dont see this popup and your browser is blocking access to microphone and camera for the site, in this case you won’t be able to use the Audio/Video in the meeting to overcome this problem follow this guide. Double check that camera/microphone is allowed for the site by clicking the lock icon before the site URL. - This will also happen when you click Start Video. Allow camera as well to enable browser access to your camera/webcam.
- After this step you might still not be able to preperly use your Audio/Video in the meeting. In this case, please click the arrows next to Mute/Camera to select your particular device for the Audio/Video input. If the default ones do not work try changing the options or connect a headset/webcam to see if you can join through a different device.
That’s it for now, are you facing any issues after cross checking all the above steps? Comment below I would love to hear your feedback or include more commonly occurring issues in this post!

Hi Adeel,
Thank you for creating this plugin but unfortunately the audio does not work for me or anyone else that is trying to use the Zoom meeting through our wordpress site http://www.windowswear.com/webinar-test. We followed all your steps above and are using Chrome browser on both Windows 10 on PC and Chrome OS on Chromebook. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Adeel: There are still many bugs now which are problematic I’m willing to pay to make this plugin work so you can focus on it. It’s a great service but causing lots of problems. I don’t expect you to keep offering such an awesome for free!
1) how doe the system decide who is a host and who isn’t? if im’ logged into my admin WordPress account it automatically assumes I’m a host, if I’m not logged in, even if I’m logged into the zoom account as a host it doesn’t know if I’m host or not. It makes it impossible when you have more than one user.
.
2) Is it possible at all to make it so host can join automatically like before from within the iframe? That was the point of the plugin.
3) The join via app link seems broken now, it says “uh oh, not found” on zoom
4) Alternative hosts– you can only have one now, before you could add more than one.
Grateful for your comment. I am working on it and release another update with the fixes, the option for a pain version is also in my mind.
Thanks for your work on this! It’s a great app.
I’m having an issue with the “alternative” links provided when the meeting is open.
The first link “Join via Zoom App” doesn’t work. It sends you to Zoom with a “You seem to have lost your way.” message.
I assume that link is supposed to go open the zoom app on the participant’s device?
The large print “Join Meeting via Alternative Way” only opens the meeting in a new window on Zoom.us. So it’s a little misleading if the user doesn’t have the right browser to view.
First question: Is there a way to fix the “Join via Zoom App” link?
Second question: Can I adjust the wording on the large print link? I’d rather it say, Open in new browser window, or something like that.
The subsequent version updates will provide a better text for users as mentioned. Right now there is no way to change this.
